Why is digital citizenship important in schools?
Digital citizenship is important because it aims to teach everyone (not just children) what technology users must understand in order to use digital technologies effectively and appropriately. Students have access to so much technology these days so it is important for them to learn how to be good digital citizens to avoid potentially dangerous situations such as cyberbullying, online predators, inappropriate images and content, etc. They must also learn how to properly cite resources found on the internet and know that just because something is posted on the internet does not necessarily mean that they can use it without at least crediting the original source.
